Donald Duke reveals ambition to contest for President of Nigeria

Former governor of Cross River State, Mr Donald Duke, has revealed that he still has a Presidential ambition. Speaking on Tuesday at a programme titled "The Nigerian Symposium for Emerging Leaders", Duke confirmed that if the opportunity presents itself, he'll take it, also revealing that he once aspired to the position but did not emerge the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I do not have the flair for the legislature; standing up and sitting down at the chambers to raise a point. That was why I did not contest for the Senate but the presidency, after serving out my term as governor. I have contested the presidency before; I will still give it a shot when the opportunity presents itself . I believe I still have the energy in me," he said.

Duke stated that democracy in Nigeria would fare better if young people played a more active part and use their prime to add value to the country.

“I want to urge young people in the country not to see leadership as if it belongs to some people, but do everything positive to be part of it. You can only make a difference at the prime of your life. You can actually add value now, not when you are above 50. So, you need to be part of the political process and play your part. It is your right to be there; nobody is doing you a favour. You represent more than 60 per cent of the population;  you don’t have to beg for it. Just make effort to make that change and contribute your quota to nation building," he said.

Kim said after marrying Kris just 8 months after they began dating, she knew she had made a mistake. And she knew the marriage was a mistake just a few days into it.

Biafra Day Celebration: Enugu Police warns IPOB, BIM against sit-at-home order

The Enugu State police command has issued a warning to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Biafra Independence Movement, BIM against forcing it members to stay indoors on May 30, a day slated to celebrate the 50 years of declaration of the defunct Biafran Republic.

IPOB and BIM had given a sit-at-home order to people of the region to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the declaration of Biafra by the late indigenous leader, Dim Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. 

They are said to have been sending messages via Whatsapp and Facebook to it members to observe the special day by staying indoors as a sign of respect for those who died during and after the three years civil war from 1967 to 1970.

Ariana Grande has reportedly offered to cover the funeral costs of the victims of the Manchester terror attack which occurred on Monday just after her concert. An account dedicated to the singer made claims that the pop singer has pledged to help the families of the 22 people who lost their lives and give the dead a befitting burial.

Pastor defrauds Atiku Abubakar's wife, Titilayo of N918 million

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar's wife. Titilayo Abubakar has revealed how her business partner who is also a pastor defrauded her of N918 million because she trusted him.

While testifying at the Lagos state High Court in Ikeja, Mrs Titilayo narrated how Pastor Nsikakabasi Akpan-Jacobs and two other people duped her. 

According to her, Pastor Akpan-Jacobs sold a property belonging to their company, THA Shipping MAritime Services Ltd to Dana Motors Nigeria. She also revealed that she was the highest shareholder of the company with 49% shares while Pastor Akpan-Jacobs and their other partner, Mr Fred Holmes each had 25%shares. 

 

She accused Pastor Akpan-Jacobs of going to the Corporate Affairs Commission where he altered the share holding in his favour and forging the company’s board resolution.

She also revealed that when the fraud initially happened, they agreed to settle out of court but instead of settling, Pastor Akpan-Jacobs went to sell the cranes and the company and gave EFCC N16 million which she received.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had slammed the accused with a 15-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and fraudulent conversion of property worth N918 million belonging to the company.
